Special Education Teacher A.W. (grade 5-6):

“"What I liked about the MATH 1:1 was I didn't feel inhibited to ask the question. That's what it was. I felt confident to say, ‘I don't understand this,’ or ‘this is what I'm working on.’ Not being sure. See, as a teacher, you're never sure if you're doing the correct thing or not.

So, sometimes if you have a sounding board, it makes it a lot easier because what happens is you get a chance to share your concept and then you show the person what you're doing and then they go, ‘Oh my God, that's great!’ Because you can't see the greatness in yourself. Sometimes other people can see the greatness in you. Sometimes you don't think that it's something that you can accomplish yourself or on your own.

And then you realize that you got everything that I need to teach these kids to do what I need them to do. I got it. But I don't have that confidence where I can say, ‘Okay, I can do this without having a conversation with a person.’ So the MATH 1:1 for me was a way to build my own confidence up. It was, it's not about the kids. It's not about me not being able to work with them. It was about me building me up.”
